Advice from Central State University Counseling Services / Self - Care Plan

We are all facing some challenging times. It is important that we are mindful of our self-care. We are advising that you choose an activity from the list below. Be conscious to take time every day to help maintain your mental and emotional health. Please be aware that CSU counseling services may meet in person or remotely with students.   • Breathe deeply every hour (10 cleansing breaths)
  • Walk or do something physical every day
  • Journal (every day)
  • Finger paint
  • Listen to relaxing music
  • Go to a waterfall (there is one less than a mile on Route 42)
  • Spend 20 minutes each day completely quiet (no distraction)
  • Keep your atmosphere clear of clutter
  • Stretch
  • Dance
  • Smile at yourself in the mirror each morning
  • Seek professional help if are feeling suicidal (1-800 273-8255)
  • Listen to your heartbeat
  • Get plenty of sleep
  • Develop a support system
  • Appoint an accountability partner
  • Laugh, laugh, laugh (it is medicine for the soul)
  • Limit social media activity

Central State will monitor Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines along with local, state, and federal public health orders and guidelines as the university modifies policies and procedures to ensure the safest possible on-campus environment.
